Why Legalize Industrial Hemp?

If you are new to the discussion, here is a brief overview of the benefits of hemp:

Hemp is a natural fiber that’s cultivated with low impact on the environment. It requires no pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or GMO seeds. Cultivation of hemp improves soil health by replenishing vital nutrients and preventing erosion. It’s one of the most durable natural fibers on the planet and results in fabric with wonderful drape that’s comparable to linen.

Hemp is an environmentally sustainable crop:

  • Is drought tolerant, requiring 1/2 to 1/3 the water for corn and cotton
  • Naturally resists pests, and does not require pesticides and herbicides
  • Remediates the soil
  • Can help mitigate Climate Change – the crop rapidly absorbs carbon and has a 120-day growth cycle
  • Could replace virtually anything made from petroleum-based plastic, providing a reason to keep fossil fuels in the Earth
  • Would provide tens of thousands of jobs for American farmers, veterans and small businesses.

We can work together to legalize industrial hemp by first banning together to be heard. On July 4, 2016 the National Hemp Association plans to deliver the petition to legalize industrial hemp to congress.

But we need your help.  Add your voice by signing the petition.
