LAS VEGAS, May 5, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Hemp, Inc. (HEMP) is pleased to publicize the signing of Senate Bill 2175 (Act 56) by Hawaii Governor, Neil Abercrombie to allow the state’s University of Hawaii, College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (at Manoa) to establish a two-year industrial hemp remediation and biofuel crop research and analysis program. According to the Bill, which aligns with the 2014 Farm Bill emplaced by President Obama, the higher institution can now safely grow and cultivate Hemp for a reseach anaylsis program that, not only, Hawaii could substantially benefit from.
Bruce Perlowin, CEO of Hemp, Inc. (OTC:HEMP) commented, “Hawaii is positioning itself to become a major player in the Industrial Hemp industry. I believe this environmentally-friendly crop could easily yield the U.S. more than the $500 million a year, as State Representative Thielen reported. You have to look at the big picture here. As each state follows suit, it inevitably produces numerous income potential for Hemp, Inc. and its shareholders… especially within our subsidiary, IHMMCC where we have a growing network of diverse public companies all working in a synergistic manner.”
Perlowin continued, “Hemp, Inc., a pioneer in the industry, advocator and educator has promulgated for years hemp’s viability as a sustainable resource, thus making it an unequivocally natural phytoremediator and perfect biofuel feedstock. Not to mention, with hemp, we can build stronger homes with cheaper lumber made from hemp, thereby slowing down the deforestation of precious trees, create more durable material to make clothing, canvas, rope, and many other things used by households every day and become independent from fossil fuels.”
“It’s simply a burgeoning, relentless industry bursting at the seams. It’s strength is in numbers and as more people demand hemp, more states demand it. Because of that, the future is bright for the industrial hemp industry in the U.S.,” concluded Perlowin. During a recentBloomberg TV interview, Perlowin discussed longtime misconceptions of the industrial plant; the Federal government’s reluctance on full legality for industrial hemp; Hemp, Inc.’s role and contribution to the industry; and the direction of the industrial hemp industry after passing of the 2014 Farm Bill and its economic benefits.
Govenor Neil Abercrombie also recently commented on industrial hemp’s economic benefits, “Hawaii’s environment and economy will benefit from this research… Industrial hemp can be used to decontaminate soil and increase the state’s production of biodiesel, therefore reducing our dependency on imported fuel.”
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, phytoremediation as mentioned in the Bill, is “the direct use of green plants and their associated microorganisms to stabilize or reduce contamination in soils, sludges, sediments, surface water, or ground water.” Hawaii’s new legislature indicated hemp is a superior phytoremediator because “it grows quickly and can extract toxins without the need to remove any contaminated topsoil. It is also unaffected by the toxins it accumulates, has a fast rate of absorption and can bind compound contaminants from the air and soil.”
To date, thirty-three (33) states and Puerto Rico have introduced pro-hemp legislation and now with Hawaii, twenty-three (23) states have already passed pro-hemp legislation. As more are expected to follow, the Industrial Hemp and Medical Marijuana Industry and its public companies, therein, are becoming widely recognized for its environmental impact and business practices. The influx of activity in the Industrial Hemp Industry has been keeping Hemp, Inc.’s (HEMP) subsidiary, The Industrial Hemp and Medical Marijuana Consulting Company, Inc. (IHMMCC) busy.
According to Perlowin, IHMMCC’s “Community of Companies” is the best ‘connected’ consulting company in the industry. Thus far, the public companies include: Dewmar International BMC, Inc.; Resource Ventures, Inc. (REVI); Webxu, Inc. (WBXU); Greene Concepts, Inc.
