Hemp, Inc. Provides CBS Behind-The-Scenes Access to the Largest Hemp Processing Mill in the Western Hemisphere

SPRING HOPE, NC, April 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP), a global leader in the industrial hemp industry with the largest multi-purpose industrial hemp processing facility and mill in the western hemisphere, announced today that the Company was featured in a CBS North Carolina special about the hemp industry and the Company’s products that are created to provide an environmentally-friendly solution to the oil and gas drilling industries. Hemp, Inc. announced on Jan. 4th that the Company was shipping its first purchase orders of loss-circulation material DrillWall™ and Kenaf fiber, making Spill-Be-Gone™ the third natural plant product the Company has begun selling this year. Spill-Be-Gone™ is made from the core particles and powder of the kenaf plant, which is one of the world’s most absorbent natural materials. This product can be used for the cleanup of oil, diesel fuel, hydraulic fluid, solvents, water and most other liquid spills, and can be formulated to be fire retardant as well. Notably, Spill-Be-Gone™ was one of the products used to help clean up wildlife during the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

As shown in the TV exclusive, Hemp, Inc. partners with tobacco and other farmers throughout the state who are looking to introduce hemp into their crop rotation. Hemp, Inc.’s goal this year is to plant up to 25,000 acres of hemp in North Carolina, which is more than what the whole country planted last year. Many farmers across America are seeking new ways to keep the family farm profitable. The hemp crop can produce a profit margin much greater than that of tobacco in North Carolina.

CBS 17 news reporter, Amy Cutler, was on location at Hemp, Inc.’s Spring Hope processing facility. CBS 17 stated, “While hemp and marijuana are the same species, hemp has a negligible amount of THC, meaning it won’t get you high. Truckloads of kenaf and hemp have become the norm at HEMP Inc.’s processing facility in Spring Hope. Perlowin said four years and $20 million later, it’s become the largest hemp processing facility in the Western Hemisphere. Perlowin and his crew showed CBS 17 around the processing facility, explaining how different strains of hemp are used.”

“It shreds it up into very small particles, smaller than one inch. From there it exits up the incline conveyer and drops into the first stage of our milling operation,” said David Schmitt, COO of Hemp, Inc.’s wholly owned subsidiary, Industrial Hemp Manufacturing, LLC. Schmitt said that a larger particle size is used for absorbing oil following a spill. “We’re just making a handful of products here out of hemp. There are over 25,000 products that can be made from hemp.”

Fourth generation farmer Tony Finch was also interviewed at Hemp, Inc.’s industrial hemp processing facility. “We had kind of been pushed back out of tobacco contracts, so we were needing another crop to make money, to stay in the farming business,” said Finch.

Perlowin concluded the interview by applauding Senator Mitch McConnell’s call to have hemp removed from the list of controlled substances. When asked his thoughts on McConnell introducing the bill to legalize hemp, Perlowin said, “It’ll be a boon for North Carolina, it’ll be a boon for America.” To watch the CBS coverage of Hemp, Inc. “NC hemp processing facility is largest in western hemisphere,” click here.
