Hemp, Inc. Applauds Advancement of Hemp Bills in Indiana

SPRING HOPE, NC, March 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP), a global leader in the industrial hemp industry with the largest hemp mill in the western hemisphere, announced today that the Company applauds recent action taken by the Indiana General Assembly that brings the state closer to legalizing cannabidiol (CBD) oil and establishing an industrial hemp pilot program.

The Indiana House recently passed Senate Bill 52 by a unanimous vote of 93-0. SB-52 legalizes hemp-derived CBD oil with no more than 0.3 percent THC. Similar legislation, House Bill 1214, recently passed the Senate Corrections and Criminal Law Committee by a 6-2 vote. Differences between the bills will need to be resolved before it heads to the governor’s desk for his signature. In addition, the state’s House Bill 1137 would establish an industrial hemp pilot program.

“We support Indiana’s latest legislative actions that bring the state one step closer to legalizing hemp-derived CBD oil and creating an infrastructure for a viable hemp program that can create jobs and spur economic activity,” said Hemp, Inc. CEO Bruce Perlowin.

Hemp, Inc. announced in October, 2017, that the Company and its strategic farming partners were on the forefront of North Carolina’s first hemp harvest. In August, 2017, Hemp, Inc. announced the official launch of its NuAxon Tech CO2 Supercritical Extractor, purchased from NuAxon BioScience. Hemp, Inc. uses this device to process raw hemp into CBD extracts and oil as part of its strategic business model.

“As North Carolina becomes the hemp epicenter of the United States, with Hemp, Inc. planning to grow as much as 25,000 acres next year – more than the entire country combined in 2017 – we are deeply encouraging of states that are taking action to clarify hemp-derived CBD oil’s legal status while also creating an infrastructure for a hemp program that can lead to a resurgence of the family farm,” stated Perlowin.

Previously, Hemp, Inc. announced its support of the Alaska House of Representatives’ unanimous passage of a bill to legalize industrial hemp and establish a pilot program.
